David Koff

Co-writer, Director, & Producer

David’s been on or around the stage for over 40 years. He first appeared on stage in a 4th grade production of “Free to Be, You and Me” and he first fell in LOVE with the power of theater when his parents took him to see "A Chorus Line" two years later.

Dance Ten, Love TWELVE. (That’s a Chorus Line joke, OK?)

At The University of Pennsylvania, David was a member of the famed Mask & Wig comedy troupe, eventually becoming the lead writer and director of the undergraduate company.

After graduation, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue professional acting and writing. He co-wrote his first screenplay with NYTimes best-selling author Stuart Gibbs and sold it to Fox Family Films.

He joined SAG/AFTRA in 1993 and appeared on the TV shows "The West Wing", "The John Larroquette Show" and "Sesame Street". David’s updated TV, Film, and Commercial reel can be found here.

David studied improvisation at the Groundlings Theater in Los Angeles, spending four years in their conservatory, before training for a decade with Groundlings alumni Stan Wells at his Empty Stage Theatre. There, he began experimenting with how improv and scripted material could be combined.

In 2001, David became the Artistic Director of Fake Radio, the country’s premier old-time radio comedy troupe. The company is famous for recreating scripted radio broadcasts from the 1940’s but combining them with improvisation. With Fake Radio, David’s had the honor of working on the stage with some of his comedy heroes including The Kids in the Hall, Ray Romano, John Larroquette, Fred Willard, Marcia Wallace, Larraine Newman, Jeff Garlin, Mindy Sterling & George Wendt.

David met Erin when she joined the cast of Fake Radio. After a production of Lux Radio Theater’s “The Wizard of OZ”, she approached him about helping her to create “The Wonderful Woman of OZ”. The rest, as they say, is history.

David lives in Portland with his wife Mary and son Isaac, and teaches improvisation at his Change Through Play Improv studio.
